The goal of this series is to create, deepen and strengthen the capacity of educators and advocates dedicated to the affirmative development of boys and young men of color.
Conversations with Deep Thinkers is a powerful forum for learning and inquiry. In these one-hour teleconference calls, Ron Walker engages prominent leaders in an inquiry that is focused on COSEBOC’s 2020 theme: Boys and Young Men of Color: Learning from the Footprints of the Past, Taking Footsteps to the Future. These conversations are followed by a Q&A inviting audience participation.

Bio: King Romero Wesson
King Romero Wesson is 18 years old and was born and raised in Oakland,CA. He Graduated from Castlemont High School this past spring. After graduating high school, he went on to start a non-profit called Chosen Generation Community Foundation, which targets all kinds of youth in urban communities and presents them with leadership roles within the community. For Example, in schools, church, youth programs etc… Romero has been involved with African American Male Achievement for the past 6 years. He is also a public advocate for OUSD public schools and has travelled the country speaking at national conferences alongside other black men and boys from the city of Oakland. Since being in the program Romero has been presented with many opportunities, such as hosting Spring Symposiums, hosting African American Honor Roll Celebrations, and has a mini-documentary made by KingMakers of Oakland. Romero is currently enrolled at Merritt Community College studying Business Management. He is also a licensed and ordained Youth Pastor. And he serves as the National Youth Pastor for the Our Kids Program and at his church East Oakland Church of God in Christ.
