On October 30, 2018 at 4pm EST, the Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color is proud to announce its 1st speaker of the academic year in our educational teleconference series, Conversations with Influential Thought Leaders. The goal of this series is to create, deepen and strengthen the capacity of educators and advocates dedicated to the affirmative development of boys and young men of color.

Conversations with Influential Thought Leaders is a powerful forum for learning and inquiry. In these one-hour teleconference calls, Ron Walker engages prominent leaders in an inquiry that is focused on COSEBOC's 2019 theme: Boys & Young Men of Color: Ready to Learn, Honored to Serve, Destined to Lead. These conversations are followed by a Q&A inviting audience participation. These calls are currently free to all, but registration is required. A follow-up audio recording will be provided free for COSEBOC members.

We are very honored and excited to kick off the series with 2017 National Teacher of the Year, Sydney Chaffee on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 4pm EST. Ms. Chaffee is a National Board-Certified Teacher who believes that education is an essential tool to work towards social justice. Since 2007, Sydney has been the ninth grade Humanities teacher at Codman Academy Charter Public School in Boston. As 2017 National Teacher of the Year, Sydney has spoken to national and international audiences about social justice, arts education, social and emotional learning, and teacher leadership.

We anticipate a spirited, lively and informative conversation in which Ron Walker will engage Ms. Chaffee about her experience as a white teacher of boys of color. We hope you can join us!
