THE GATHERING IS OVER, but check out photos, the agenda and workshops!
For the past nine years, COSEBOC has successfully convened national gatherings. Frequently, school leaders request that we bring a professional development event to their region. For the first time, we are able to honor that request.
On December 14, 2015, the Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color will host its first Regional Gathering of Leaders. The theme for this event is, “The New Narrative for the 21st Century: Affirmative Development and Education of Boys and Young Men of Color.”
This historic event will take place in Boston, MA, where the very first COSEBOC national gathering was held nine years ago. This Regional Gathering will be held at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building, the brand new administrative home for the Boston Public Schools, located in the heart of Roxbury.
The tradition of high quality professional development will continue, as well as authentic attention to the voices of young men. In addition to plenary sessions, six workshops will be offered in the morning and afternoon. These include 3 signature COSEBOC sessions:
To ensure opportunities for networking and building relationships, we are limiting the number of participants for this Regional Gathering to 250 individuals. If you will be attending a COSEBOC Gathering for the first time, you are in store for an experience to remember. Our Gatherings pay attention to tenor of the times, needs of the attendees and the spirit infused in the day by the young men. I strongly encourage you to register soon as this event is certain to reach capacity.
If you plan to attend the Regional Gathering, consider becoming a member of COSEBOC. Our strong network provides members with opportunities for professional development at discounted rates, peer learning exchanges, and information about best practices and new research. By joining today, you can take advantage of discounted registration for both our Regional Gathering and our upcoming 2016 National Gathering.
