Professional Development Courses

Professional Development Courses

COSEBOC offers a professional development series for teams of educators and/or community members, featuring three signature courses. The courses, available virtually or in-person, will enhance participants’ knowledge and skill in promoting equity and excellence for all students, particularly by focusing on the education and empowerment of boys and young men of color.

A school, district, or community may choose to enroll teams of educators in any or all of the following courses:

Standards for Schools Educating Boys of Color

For PK-12 teams. COSEBOC Standards for schools educating boys of color is the foundational course we recommend as a starting point for all teams. Participants apply research-based standards to identify strengths and challenges and develop action plans.

Footprints and Footsteps Facilitator Course

For middle and high school teams. This course prepares teams of educators to implement the COSEBOC Footprints and Footsteps curriculum, designed to empower youth by introducing them to voices of the past, voices of today, and their own voices of tomorrow

Discovering Rituals, Understanding Manhood (D.R.U.M.) Facilitator Course

For teams of men of color who work with middle and high school students. This course introduces teams of educators to the Rites of Passage experience and prepares them to incorporate the D.R.U.M. framework into their own program for boys and young men of color.

COSEBOC Youth Ambassador Corps (CYAC)

A program to build leadership capacity and social commitment among high school students which is offered in a school-based or community context. Unlike other COSEBOC programs focused on the development of boys and young men of color, CVAC is inclusive of all students (male and female) interested in becoming leaders of change.
