GOL19: Call for Workshop Proposals Invitation

2019 Gathering of Leaders, May 8-10, 2019
Invitation for Workshop Proposals

The Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color invites you to submit a workshop proposal that advances the 2019 Gathering theme, Boys and Young Men of Color: Ready to Learn, Honored to Serve, Destined to Lead. COSEBOC is nationally recognized as the sole organization focused on the affirmative development of boys and young men of color. Since its inception, COSEBOC has had the mission to connect, inspire, support and strengthen school, district and community leaders dedicated to the social, emotional, cultural, and academic development of boys and young men of color.

We are issuing a Call for Proposals to presenters who will:

  • demonstrate their own transformative programs and practices;

  • present their own innovative research;

  • recount cultural or social experiences that have enhanced the well-being of boys and young men of color;

  • suggest policies that can or will transform schools, communities, and districts to better consider the unique assets of boys and young men of color, as well as better serve the interests of all students.

Workshop design and delivery should give attention to principles of adult professional learning.  COSEBOC workshops are expected to avoid "sit and get" and approaches that do not honor and strengthen the intellectual capacity of participants. They should incorporate a variety of instructional strategies that will engage participants and deepen group and individual learning.

Gathering workshops are either 1.5 hours or 3 hours in length. We encourage individuals, schools, districts and organizations to submit proposals that will inspire, inform, strengthen and activate participants to advance a positive success agenda for boys and young men of color.

Those accepted to present will receive a reduced Gathering registration rate of $250.
